Banana isn't just a game — it's community-driven. It wouldn't be what it is without the creative minds contributing to its ever-growing collection of bananas. We reached out to some of our designers to learn more about their journey, inspirations, and the stories behind their designs. Here’s a glimpse into the minds behind the bananas:

Why did you start playing?
“I was checking CS:GO case prices (...) I was curious as to why a banana game was recommended (...) I had the idea to just fill my inventory with 10k bananas — just to confuse people. I don’t even know why. I did it for fun.”
Favorite banana:
“Plinknana. I don’t know why (...) It has a deep meaning to how effort, time and passion don’t mean it looks good. As a Chinese General once said: ‘Plinknana is a poetic and meaningful banana that only those who have faced the wind will understand the beauty of.’” - Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
What would you change?
“Bring back the old bananas that had to be changed due to copyright and such (...) And perhaps make it slightly more "stock market" feel (...) The idea that a random banana could become worth a lot was kinda fun.”

Why did you start playing?
“I started playing on June 14th, 2024, after seeing the game on the trending page on Steam (...) I kept playing because I saw it had Steam Workshop support, and I wanted to be a part of the project by contributing my own designs and seeing them in-game. Before joining the Banana community, I had never had anything I made included in a game (...) Seeing my name attached to so many different bananas is an incredible feeling.”
Favorite update:
“I really enjoyed the update that revamped the GUI and added all the QOL changes.”
Biggest inspiration:
“A lot of my inspiration for the designs I’ve made comes from the things I like, as well as what I think others might enjoy too. I like creating things that stand out from the rest, and creating things that people want to have.”
On evolving styles:
“The Incognana design was one of the earlier ones I made, before I realized I could use 3D software like Blender. A lot of my early designs were experimental. At first, I just wanted to make a funny-looking banana with glasses and a moustache, and that simple idea ended up leading me to learn Blender, which now allows me to create pretty much whatever I want.”

Why did you start playing?
“I started playing Banana following the really early hype, kept playing because I liked the idea and like a lot of people I'm not against "free balance" on my Steam account. Actively waiting to see what the game will become.”
Design process:
“Most of my inspiration comes from my mind; a new game means an infinite possibility of designs. So when the workshop update dropped, I made a full Excel sheet with 100+ the ideas that came to my mind (...) Overall, I'm probably inspired by every movie and image I saw in my life, it's a bit complicated to find one source of inspiration.”
Why styles change:
“As a 3D artist I usually do works that are not really creative, so getting 100% freedom creatively wise is probably the reason my designs are so different apart, and I love learning new things so the more bananas I made the more I learnt.”
Favorite banana:
“The dreamnana for sure. And the full Halloween collection from vsk.”

Why did you start playing?
“I started playing after Steam recommended it to me, didn't really know what I was getting into, but the game's premise was very interesting, I really liked the idea of having some funny/ridiculous Steam items, just for the sake of having them, also really liked the fact that you can submit own designs and see them in the game, I keep playing (not as often, sadly) because I want to get some of the newer bananas, I kinda have a small collection going, would be nice to catch up at some point”
On game evolution:
“Before it wasn't as engaging, all you could do is click a png of a banana... but now there are buildings, exchanges and all that fun stuff to actually do, instead of just running it in the background while playing some other games.”
Art style shifts:
“Most of my bananas are very similar in style, Bananadoomer and some other ones are different mainly because that was a "collab" with some other artists, in the case of Bananadoomer the initial idea was from RickyBobby, I drew the face and Secro helped with some other parts of it”
Favorite banana:
“From the ones I made I really like the Musicnana and Bananamobile, over all I'd choose the Robonana, cos it looks like a lot of effort went into it.”
Across all their answers, one thing is clear: Banana is as much about community creativity as it is about clicking. Our designers keep the spirit of the game fresh and unpredictable.
